Doggie Fun Zone is a timed event competition where your dog can chase an elusive lure down straight-aways and around soft corners through an irregular shaped course.  Your dog traverses through, jumps over or crawls under various scaled down agility obstacles.

The Challenge Course is designed for all temperament and size dogs, from Miniature Dachshunds to Great Danes. This event requires no prior training or experience. For $12.00 the dog can run the course twice, once for practice and the second for time.

The 5th annual Stony Hill Four Corners Amber Alert Safe Child ID Project on May 19, 2012 is a voluntary program for all children under the age of 18. Parents/guardians of participating children receive a wallet sized, plastic card with a picture of the child, a unique AMBER ID number and only minimal, yet essential information needed to identify the child. This information is stored in a secure data base. This card can be presented to law enforcement in the event a child is abducted. The information can be transmitted to law enforcement and to the public via Television, Radio and Traffic Signs. This assists law enforcement by providing additional eyes of the public to look for the vehicle and occupants listed in the alert.

Children should be registered every year.

• It only takes minutes to register.
• Information is stored in a secure database at the CT Department of Public Safety.
• Parents/Guardians receive a free wallet size laminated ID card for each child.
• Additional cards available for a minimal fee.

HVCASA presents Teens on the Road

Bethel Health Care is again offering the Western CT Area Agency on Aging successful FREE workshop series entitled, “LIVE WELL,” the workshop for people with on-going health problems.  The first session of the six week series begins on Wednesday, April 18.

The workshop is designed for people, their families and caregivers who have chronic illness and the problems that so often plague them.   Chronic illness such as high blood pressure, lung disease, diabetes, arthritis and so many more have the associated problems of fatigue, pain, stress, anxiety, and depression in common.  The LIVE WELL workshops help people become better self-managers of the problems that result from these illnesses.

After attending the workshops, many people feel as though they have a new lease on life.  Attendees learn to set attainable goals, gain confidence as a better self-manager and gain tips and support from others who are experiencing similar problems.

The workshop meets once per week for six weeks.  Each session lasts two and one half hours.  Trained workshop leaders have understanding, compassion, and insight since they themselves are dealing with an ongoing health condition and have learned successful techniques for coping with problems through taking the workshops.
