2011 was a busy year for SH4C

SH4C membership continues to grow each month – mainly through word of mouth; evidence that good news and good work travels!  This year we believe that we have drawn well over 1,000 people to the area between the various planned SH4C events.

If you are interested in joining, please contact us!

A special thank you to Maplewood at Newtown and Cascades at Bethel Health Care.  These businesses alternate in providing us with a place to hold our monthly meetings (8:00 AM the first Wednesday of the month) and even include breakfast as well!  You guys are awesome!

November and December 2011 were busy months for the Stony Hill Four Corners business association!

  • PANCAKE BREAKFAST / AMBULANCE FUNDRAISER
The Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Department Pancake Breakfast scheduled for October was pushed into November by a freak snowstorm that downed power lines all throughout the area.  In spite of, or maybe because of the cancellation of Halloween for so many kids – the turnout was the best yet.  Because EVERYTHING was donated, there was a record $2,500 raised for the ambulance fund!

  • FOOD DRIVE & TREE LIGHTING in STONY HILL
The Stony Hill and Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Companies collected over 3,000 lbs. of foodthe weekend before Thanksgiving, and was followed by the Stony Hill Tree Lighting with a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The giving didn’t stop there. For weeks afterwards members of the community who were unable to attend that weekend dropped off food at Union Savings Bank. A very memorable moment occurred when a woman stopped in the branch looking for someone involved with SH4C. She explained that she and her husband had heard about our grass roots efforts, liked how and what SH4C did and wanted to make a donation. She then delivered a check for $1000.00 making it payable to Brother Hood in action. When it was explained to her how far this money would go in that Brother Hood in action would be able to purchase food/goods at a greatly reduced rate, she started crying. She said that before coming to make the donation she and her husband had prayed that this money would multiply and was overwhelmed in learning that it immediately would. It is stories like hers that keeps SH4C members inspired and wanting to do more to give back.

Because of your generosity we were able to raise over $2,500 for the Stony Hill Fire Department’s Ambulance Fund.

Did you have your photo taken with the Stony Hill Fire Dog, Sparky? Check out all photos from the event on our Facebook page!

A special thanks to all the local merchants who donated their products, services and time so that 100% of the proceeds would go directly to the Ambulance Fund!
